Products To Use For Sensitive Skin

I have always had sensitive skin and so over the years I never really experimented with my skincare for fear of upsetting my skin. Once I find something that I like and I know works I tend to stick to it.  So I thought I would share a few of the products that I have complete trust in.

Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micelle Solution :: the hype around this makeup remover when it first came onto the scene was hard not to hear. I first got my hands on it a couple of years ago and I now use it everyday to remove my eye makeup and for the rare days when I am wearing foundation I will use it to remove that before going onto cleansing. I've used cleansing waters/eye makeup removers before this one and I always found that they did work but made my eyes sting and stream. This feels like I'm using water and doesn't aggravate my skin at all. Worth the price and a must for anyone with sensitivity.

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser :: I have been using this cleanser for about 5 years now and I am yet to want to or feel the need to stray from it. It removes any leftover makeup, cleanses the skin, doesn't make my face feel tight and it is suited to a range of skin types.  I have used this when my skin was oilier and I suffered from regular breakouts and now my skin is more on the normal/deyhydrated side and it still works perfectly.

La Roche Posay Hydreane Legere/Riche :: I discovered this range of moistursiers early last year and again I am yet to stray from them. I use the Legere (lighter version) in the summer months and the Riche in the colder months. They hydrate my skin, are a great base for makeup, have never once broken me out. I'm surprised I haven't tried anything else out from this range.

Skin-Like Foundations

I am not a heavy coverage foundation kind of girl. If anything I don't wear foundation more than I actually do. However on the days that I do wear it I have two picks that always do me good. They give a skin-like coverage, even things out a bit but you wouldn't necessarily be able to say, yep she's definitely wearing foundation. Concealer is my best friend on the days that I go without foundation but sometimes you just want to wear makeup and these are my go-to guys.

MAC Face and Body is water based and blends into the skin so seemlessly. I always forget how much I love the finish of this until I wear it again. Whereas the Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation has a touch more coverage but doesn't feel like it whatsoever, as the name would suggest it feels just like skin.

Morning Reading

The first alarm goes off at 6:10 and then 6:15 and then I finally drag myself out of bed at 6:20. I put on the outfit that I have laid out the night before, wash my face, put on makeup (if any, it really depends on the day), clean my teeth and then go downstairs. After saying my hello's to my sleepy dog, a very important step although she does tend to ignore me as if telling me it is too early for this kind of affection. Rude. I then put my breakfast in my bag and any other snacks for the day, layer up, grab my car keys and am out the door by absolute latest 6:50. As I turn on the car the Radio 1 breakfast show is already playing in the background and I start the 20 minute drive to the station. I normally get to the station about 10 minutes before it is due to arrive, that's the early bird in me. I walk to the place I stand on the platform every day and I wait for the arrival of the train (and more importantly the arrival of warmth).

Then comes my favourite part of the morning. My phone gets unlocked and the first and most important thing to do is check my newly stocked Bloglovin' feed. It has become a part of my morning routine and I really do look forward to it. So I thought I would share the blogs that I read every single morning without fail who set me up for my day. It is a method of relaxing for me whilst I'm on the hour long train to London, shortly followed by scrolling down instagram and plugging my headphones and dozing to my favourite music.

Without further ado here are my favourite, must read all blogs...

NUXE Reve De Miel, I Finally Get The Hype

About 2 years ago now I was in Paris and of course I made a visit to one of the famous French pharmacies that cannot be missed. There was alot of hype around the Nuxe Reve de Miel lipbalm at the time but for some reason I couldn't bring myself to part myself with that much money for this pot so instead I bought the stick version of it. I used it almost immediately after purchase, excited to see what all the fuss was about but to tell the truth I was disappointed, majorly. I found that with the thin layer the stick distributed it was almost drying and the product would wipe off rather than sink into the lips. So it was promptly put to the back of the books and I honestly couldn't tell you where it is now.

So when I was in France earlier this year in the Summer and came across a Nuxe stand I was intrigued as to whether I had been misled. In a case of thoughtlessness I purchased it and was walking out of the supermarket (yes, they sell their skincare in the supermarket. Yet another reason to be jealous of the French). It has only been since it's gotten cold that I have been fully able to appreciate this lipbalm, I find through the warmer months I often forgo lipbalm. An apology is in order as I have now realised the full potential of this little pot. On application right before bed or under a lipstick throughout the day it provides excellent moisture and a base for other lip products. I finally get the hype.

Hunstanton, Norfolk

Last weekend myself and my family made our seperate ways up to the north coast of Norfolk to one of my favourite places in this world.  I am spending my weeks in London at the moment which I am really loving but the chance of a getaway to the beach was one that I was really looking forward to. On Friday afternoon I made my way to Kings Cross station and managed to (just!) catch the train. I went straight from the station to meet the rest of the family, who had driven up that day, in a local restaurant that we frequently go to whenever we visit.

The dark nights had fully set in at this point so on Saturday morning myself and my dad went out for an early morning walk to the beach, when I say early I mean we left at half 7, which may sound strange but because I'm getting up at 6am throughout the week I wanted to see some daylight. The sea was almost all the way in so the tiny strip of beach was a contrast to the vast amount which is normally there. Then later that day the whole family got out and we walked along the beach from Old Hunstanton to the main town of Hunstanton. Waiting for us in all it's glory was a cafe on top of the cliff where I could almost smell the English breakfast that I was going to order. My cheeks had turned numb from the blistering cold wind, the first of this autumn/winter time so far.

We have been visiting Norfolk irregularly for a good 10 years now. It holds some amazing, happy memories for me and I always love going back there. In fact I don't think I had visited for a couple of years before last weekend. I love being by the sea, there is a sense of calmness and serenity that even with the billowing winds calms me. I love seeing my dog sprint along the beach with the stupidest grin on her face. I love being in a place that holds only good memories for me. I'm certain I'll be back soon.
