Daily Makeup :: Holiday Edit

Being on holiday in the sunny south of France I didn't wear makeup throughout the day, but this was the minimal makeup that I wore if we went out in the evenings.

Gratitude

A lovely bouquet of flowers for some genuinely amazing people who I have had the pleasure of working with for the past 6 months.

Hummingbird Bakery.

Last week I mentioned that I had spent a couple of days in Richmond. And in that short period of time I managed to make a trip to the widely spoken about cake heaven that is The Hummingbird Bakery. It was rather overwhelming walking in there and being surrounded by so many delicious options. In the end I decided to keep it plain and simple and went with a vanilla cupcake with vanilla icing (there was so much icing I went into a sugar coma afterwards). If I hadn't of just had lunch I definitely would have gone for a slice of the rainbow cake, they were huge! The hype around these little cakes are not fake or put on, they are delicious and worth every little penny.

Charging On The Go

From the start of September I am going to be spending alot of my time commuting up to London and in turn that means alot of time on trains. As many people are aware an iPhone's battery life is pathetic. I have to charge mine every single day, if not more depending on how much I have used it. Now I've done some serious thinking ahead and realised that I don't really want to be stuck in London at the end of the day with my phone having run out of power a few hours ago. I want to be able to use my phone throughout the day without having to worry about its battery life. So when I read this post by Zoe London a couple of months ago it made me think that I should really invest in a portable phone charger.

In the end I decided on the Easy Acc power bank which has two USB cables so you aren't just limited to your phone, you can charge anything with a USB cable. I've been testing it out and I would say that it last about 4-5 full charges before it needs charging again. I can tell that it is going to make my life alot easier. I can read new blogposts on the morning train, watch youtube videos, flick through instagram and generally keep up with all social media without having to worry about a thing.  I also use my phone as my iPod, so in general I think it will be an investment that will definitely pay off!

Richmond

The other week I made a trip up to the outskirts of London to visit a very old friend of mine. I'm talking our parents knew each other before we were even born. I used to live around these parts so it's always nice to go back to a familiar place and also see her. Our trips are normally limited to once or twice a year unfortunately. I squeezed the trip between my working days, so as soon as I got there we took a trip into Richmond for a bit of shopping and lunch. Bills was on my mind for lunch, photos were nowhere near my mind whilst that burger was being consumed unfortunately. But trust me, it was good! Then we did a bit of shopping. I picked up a few little things, and of course another top from French Connection. I honestly can't help it, I have fallen head over heels with that shop. I'm sure you will see some of the purchases crop up around these parts in the not so distant future.

We returned home for a couple of hours for dinner and to get ready to go out for a couple of drinks in Richmond again. I did my friends makeup, who is next to clueless about the beauty world and then we were back on the bus. The night was filled with lots of chatting, laughter and alcohol. We were unfortunately cut short when the pubs started closing at 12. The next morning we woke up and decided to go have a picnic next to the river which was so lovely! We ate lots and lots of food. Sandwiches, cocktail sausages, strawberries, chocolate clusters, crisps.

It felt like as soon as I arrived the countryside was calling me back again. It was a short but well spent trip visiting my best friend.  I'll be back soon Richmond, I promise.
