Hunstanton, Norfolk

Last weekend myself and my family made our seperate ways up to the north coast of Norfolk to one of my favourite places in this world.  I am spending my weeks in London at the moment which I am really loving but the chance of a getaway to the beach was one that I was really looking forward to. On Friday afternoon I made my way to Kings Cross station and managed to (just!) catch the train. I went straight from the station to meet the rest of the family, who had driven up that day, in a local restaurant that we frequently go to whenever we visit.

The dark nights had fully set in at this point so on Saturday morning myself and my dad went out for an early morning walk to the beach, when I say early I mean we left at half 7, which may sound strange but because I'm getting up at 6am throughout the week I wanted to see some daylight. The sea was almost all the way in so the tiny strip of beach was a contrast to the vast amount which is normally there. Then later that day the whole family got out and we walked along the beach from Old Hunstanton to the main town of Hunstanton. Waiting for us in all it's glory was a cafe on top of the cliff where I could almost smell the English breakfast that I was going to order. My cheeks had turned numb from the blistering cold wind, the first of this autumn/winter time so far.

We have been visiting Norfolk irregularly for a good 10 years now. It holds some amazing, happy memories for me and I always love going back there. In fact I don't think I had visited for a couple of years before last weekend. I love being by the sea, there is a sense of calmness and serenity that even with the billowing winds calms me. I love seeing my dog sprint along the beach with the stupidest grin on her face. I love being in a place that holds only good memories for me. I'm certain I'll be back soon.
