From France

Caudalie Hand and Nail cream / Bioderma Crealine H20 100ml / Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm

On my recent holiday to France there was lots of reading, lazing around in the sun, eating and sightseeing. However being surrounded by French pharmacies everywhere I went I felt it would be rude not to pay a visit. These purchases were in fact found in a pharmacy in a big French supermarket, if only Bioderma was so accessible here in England! Of course I was immediately drawn to the Bioderma stand, I didn't actually need a full sized one but instead I picked up a mini bottle of it. I thought it would be easier to take up to London with me without taking up too much space. I've been eyeing up the Nuxe lipbalm for years. It was all the rage circa 2012 but I couldn't bring myself to fork out over 10 euros for a lip balm. Safe to say I was obviously having a weak moment. And then I almost walked out of the store with just those two products, but then I saw the Caudalie hand cream was on the counter. I was actually in need of a new hand cream so I picked up that as well, see told you I was having a weak moment. Not too much damage done in my opinion...

Well Loved

There are some products that are so scraped and bruised from their overuse that I thought they deserved a mention on this little space of mine. They are basic, everyday products. They're messy, the writing has worn off on a lot of them, they're almost empty, they've been repurchased multiple times. But all in all that just shows that a significant amount of love goes towards them. I'm almost at the end of my second bottle of Bioderma and I've just picked up another mascara and eyebrow pencil, hence their squeaky clean appearance. The eye pencil is a cheap one, but it is a good'un. I can't muster up the courage to spend a fortune on a high end brand version when I know this one is just so damn good. Saying that, as you can probably see my MAC paintpot is looking a tad on the dry side. I've been putting up with it, telling myself it still works so what's the point in buying a new one? But I'm thinking an updated version is on the cards very soon. The Rimmel powder has been in my collection for years now, it was the first powder that I ever bought and I am still using it. Now if that's not loyalty then I don't know what is. This was even before the whole craze around it started, I obviously have psychic powers. Lastly the Bobbi Brown corrector which is one of the most recent additions is something I never know I needed in my life until now. Undereye concealing will never be the same without this one now.

Chanel :: Coco Mademoiselle

When I was 15 (4 years ago now?! Where did that go?) I remember the day where I splashed out the the largest amount of money to that date. I bought my first ever proper perfume on Oxford Street in London and I remember feeling very smug and proud walking down the road knowing I had a Chanel perfume in my bag. 4 years down the line and I noticed that I was beginning to run low on it, so with my 19th birthday coming up I asked for a replacement instead of splashing out with my own hard earned cash which I am desperately trying to save at the moment. To me the scent is classic, girly and easy to wear on a day to day basis. To be honest with you it is a familiar scent to me now and I don't think that I will ever be without it.

The Lip Stash

I won't lie to you. I confess that I have one too many lip products. Lipsticks, lip stains, lip balms, sheer lip colours, lip pencils, I've got em all. And yet there are a few options that I reach for time and time again. In those last few minutes before I need to leave the house it will most likely be on of these lip products that I will reach for. They are all easy to wear, will go with basically whatever look that I have on, and most importantly I feel comfortable wearing each of them.

The Regulars

When applying my makeup in the morning I usually change up what I'm wearing on my lips, cheeks and eyes quite frequently. That's one of the great things about makeup, there's always a new shadow, trend, colour to try out. However there are some products that make an appearance every single (make-up wearing) day which I don't expect to change any time soon. They are my basic basics.  My base can change up depending on the day (read: the state of my skin), the colours that I wear vary and the amount of makeup that I put on will change day to day, but these will always make an appearnce.

Make Up On The Go

A look at some of the products that I take with me if I am going out for the day, either to work or somewhere else. I don't like to take alot out with me because most of the time I won't actually use the majority of the products, it's just nice to have them with me just in case. Powder for the t-zone, concealer just in case, the lip product I'm wearing that day, lip balm and I always take the maybelline lip gloss out with me because it's an easy alternative to slick on and go which will go with anything.

Weekly Makeup #1

Welcome to a new feature for this blog, my weekly makeup. I try to switch up the makeup I use once a week, sometimes more, so I thought it would be interesting to show you what products I am currently using.

I am not one for a heavy base everyday, so I tend to stick to my beloved Dr Jart BB cream. It equalizes uneven skintone with just the right amount of coverage. As for concealer I am very loyal to my Collection one for blemishes and red areas, however for under the eyes I do prefer to use the Rimmel wake me up concealer. This was out of stock when I needed it so I am using this other rimmel one which is good however I find it to be slightly too heavy for the undereye area. I am very into highlighting at the moment, so the Revlon Skinlights is a must. As well as the Nars blush which is a gorgeous pink/coral shade with a slight shimmer to add a subtle highlight. A great addition for the spring time.

As for eyes, on a day to day basis you wil most likely see me wearing some kind of bronze/taupe ensemble. Recently it's been MAC 'patina' which is a great sweep over the lid and go shade. Finish off the look with a swipe of MAC 'Peach Blossom' on the lips and I'm good to go.

EYES: MUA eyebrow palette (top right shade), MAC patina e/s, Urban Decay Naked Basics palette (faint in the crease)

(Look out for some reviews on a few of the products I used in this post in the next week or so!)

Some Revlon Purchases

I was sauntering around Boots a couple of weeks ago, as you do, and noticed that there was a 3 for 2 deal going on on the Revlon stand. I remembered that Alix from I Covet Thee had used the Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in her 'Get Ready With Me' video. So I instantly gravitated towards the shade she had used, which is a gorgeous peachy-pink neutral shade called Pink Cognito. It is a great shade to put on in the morning which will go with all eye looks, in particular a smoky eye. And then of course another shade caught my eye, Kissable Pink. It is a great, your lips but a bit pinker look. Still very easy to wear on a day to day basis. The formulations of these lipsticks are sheer, so be aware of this when looking at the shades available as it is likely the colour you see won't be so bold.  Once the shine of the darker shade Kissable Pink it does leave a slight tint to the lips which is very pretty, whereas because the shade Pink Cognito is so neutral that it seems to fade away.

Once I had picked up these products there was no point in not getting a third product, so as not to waste the 3 for 2 deal right? Well in any case that was my logic. I had been on the look out for a highlighter for a while to perk up my seemingly dull winter complexion that everyone seems to be struggling with at the moment. Summer, where are you? I had read about this Revlon Photoready Skinlights on Nouvelle a while ago. So it was the perfect fit to complete the offer. I chose to go with the shade Pink Light after of course swatching the other shades. You need the tiniest bit which I then rub between a couple of fingers and rub onto the top of my cheek bones and any other place that I feel needs highlighting. This is an absolutely gorgeous product which I would recommentd to anyone! I am yet to use it mixed in with a base, or underneath, to create that extra bit of glowwy-ness that seems to be so on trend right now.

Since purchasing these beauties Boots are now offering a 3 for 2 across the majority of their store. I am so tempted to make a little purchase, but I have just taken advantage of the 10% off beauty on Debenhams at the moment. So maybe that will have to wait for a while. We'll just have to see how great my will power is.

MAKEUP - Urban Decay Naked Palette

A make-up post for you today. And this post is severely overdue. When I say overdue, I don't just mean weeks or months. I mean years. I'm sure a lot of you are familiar with this beauty of a palette, the Urban Decay Naked Palette. It has come to be a cult classic within many people’s collections. It has a beautiful mix of bronzey, matte and shimmery shades which are applicable for both daytime and night time looks.

You may be thinking, ‘It’s been released for over 3 years, how on earth did it take you that long to buy the damn product?’ Of course there are two answers. Firstly and most importantly, I was an idiot. And the more rational reason is that at the time of its release I wasn’t as into makeup as I am now. I didn’t wear eye shadows on a regular basis so I couldn’t justify the price. The turnaround was sparked when I bought the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette last summer, an equally beautiful and simple palette. The buttery formula of the eye shadows just proved that it is truly and utterly worth the price tag. And so after dreaming about it for the past few months I was aimlessly perusing the Debenhams makeup section (dangerous territory I tell you) and clicked on the product expecting to see the ‘Sold out’ tag line which it is so often accompanied with it.  Instead I saw the words that I had been waiting for…In stock.

Without thinking my card was in my hand, I added it to my cart and I completed the transaction. Gulp. It is everything I thought it was and more. The colours are stunning, completely wearable and easy to use and mix with others. I’ve had a play around with the colours this afternoon, both swatching them on my arm and creating different eye looks. The Bioderma really came into its use. My favourite shades so far are Toasted, Sin, Half Baked, Smog and Naked. I also really love the shade Gunmetal, which is a navy/grey shade with some silver glitter running through it, it looked great as an outer corner shade with Smog for an evening look.

If any of you are as late to the bandwagon as I am I will leave the link below, just in case you have been tempted. And if you are hesitating, just do it! It is well worth the money, I promise you.

Selfridges Wishlist

Selfridges Wishlist

Today I present to you some of the things that I want, seriously need. However lack of funds mean that online window shopping is my only option right now.

1. Bobbi Brown Long Wear cream shadow stick - £20 (Bronze)
I am all for a quick and easy product that makes it look like you've spent hours perfecting the perfect bronzed eye. And it looks like this is the exact product for it. I have cream shadows in pot form, but none in stick form yet. So surely this is a necessity?

2. Dior 5 couleurs eyeshadow - £40 (Incognito)
This is so gorgeous. I don't need it at all. But I want it! The packaging is sleek and I am always in need of more bronzey toned eyeshadows. After all this is Dior!  I would say that this product is more of a lifetime goal (don't laugh). At some point in my life I will purchase this and I will buy it with my hard earned money. Until that day this photo is as good as it's gonig to get. Sigh.

3. NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer - £27
I have tried this once before when I was given a sample after purchasing something from Space NK, thinking back it might have been the Nars Sheer Glow foundation. I loved using it but never purchased the full size and I think that it would be a great purchase as I am not one to wear foundation on a daily basis but this gives just the right amount of coverage that I need.

4. Clarins Beauty Flash Balm - £29
I feel like my skin is coming out of the rebellious teenage stage (thank you lord!) and this is the first time that I have noticed that the winter is really affecting my skin. It has been looking a bit lacklustre lately and I think this would really help brighten up my skin during these dull winter months.

5. MAC 217 Blending Brush - £18
This brush is famous all over the beauty world and I think that now I'm starting to wear some sort of eyeshadow on a daily basis that this would be a good investment. At the moment I'm using the Real Techniques Base Shadow brush, which I love and just wish would be sold individually! And this brush would be a very useful addition to my collection.

6. Estee Lauder Pure Colour Instant Intense Eyeshadow Trio - £27 (Amber Alloy)
Yes, some more bronze eyeshadows. I can't help that I'm attracted to them! Yet again I don't need this, but it's just so pretty.  I've got a sample sized palette of some Estee Lauder eyeshadows, so I know that they are good quality and well worth the price tag.

In reality it is unlikely that I will end up purchasing the majority of these products. At least for the moment. But a girl can dream, right?
